Title I Part A
Title I is the major sub-grant entitlement program
under No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) of 2001. This program provides
approximately $790,000 per year to Tensas Parish to ensure that all children
have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity.
There are two types of programs which can be provided, at the school building level, to enhance the achievement of such students: Targeted Assistance Programs (TAP), and School-wide Programs (SWP). Targeted Assistance Programs are to provide additional instruction for certain groups of students selected in accord with predetermined criteria. School-wide Programs allow schools to provide instructional programs to improve achievement in all academic areas. Tensas Parish operates no Targeted Assistance Programs. All three schools have used allocated funds, under Title I, to develop School-wide Programs to obtain a high quality education and reach, at a minimum, proficiency on state achievement standards and assessments.
Title II Part A - Preparing, Training, and Recruiting High Quality
Teachers and Principals
Tensas Parish receives about $154,000 from this
fund. These funds are utilized to hire a class size reduction teacher at
out elementary schools and staff staff developer to carry out our job imbedded
professional development programs. Funds are also utilized to provide
staff development and pay for teachers to become highly qualified.
Title V
Title V funds are provided for the use in the development and/or implementation
of innovative instructional programs. Tensas Parish receives $2000.00
under this entitlement. Because of the size of this allocation, these
funds are used to purchase innovative instructional and library materials
to support the implementation of each school's School-wide Program.
Title 1 Part C - Migrant Education To provide for the educational needs of migratory children and youth, Tensas Parish receives about $25,000.00 per year for this program which is administered by a regional consortium.
Title VII Part B - Rural Education Achievement Program (REAP) Rural Education Achievement Program (REAP), provides funds to high poverty, rural LEA.s to supplement activities under selected federal programs. In Tensas Parish, we receive about $23,000.00 in REAP funds. These funds are utilized to supplement Part D of Title II and supplement the salary of an assistant technology coordinator.
